About a year ago, I switched from wedding photography to family lifestyle photography because I wanted to create images that mattered to me. Directed/Candid: What that means is I set the scene, then I get out of the way and let your family act like your family.
Professional Trucker Turned Photographer
I spent over 25 years as an over the road trucker. You learn fast to stay steady when everything around you aren’t. I had to learn to read the weather, traffic patterns, and people in a hurry. I got good at staying steady when everything and everyone around me was falling apart in the middle of blizzards through the rocky mountains. Steady is what you need when the littles are throwing a temper tantrum, when the young teen decides to get that I don’t want to attitude. When Dad is just not into it because he feels totally awkward and out of place.
That’s what I bring to a family photo session in Trinity, Starkey Ranch, Land O’Lakes, and Odessa. Weather it’s meltdowns, resistant teenagers or self-conscious parents, none of it rattles me. I keep sessions moving and get the real moment instead of the stiff posed ones.
