This is my portfolio. She is chasing the two-year-old. He is pretending not to notice the camera. The six-year-old is doing something nobody asked her to do, and it is somehow the best frame of the whole session.
That is what you are looking at here.
Not a catalog of perfect poses. Not a family that spent forty minutes standing still against a wall. What you are seeing is what happens when parents stop managing the moment and just move through it — and the camera catches what is actually there.
Every session in this gallery started with a family that had no idea what was going to happen. A park, some late-afternoon light, kids who may or may not cooperate, and a photographer whose job is to find the real stuff before it disappears.

I’m a grandfather of five. I know how kids act. I’ve also been doing this long enough to know that the sessions parents are most worried about — the toddler who won’t listen, the teenager who doesn’t want to be there — are usually the ones that produce the best work. Chaos is not something I manage around. It’s usually the session.
