Family Portrait Photographer Serving Tampa Bay
Most people who are searching for a family portrait photographer have the same image in their head: everyone lined up, matching outfits, forced smiles, done in 20 minutes.
That’s one version of it. It’s surely not mine.
I’m Jeff Jansen, Family Lifestyle Photographer. I photograph families across Tampa Bay — outdoors, in real locations, without a script. You get photos that show who your family actually is, not who they’re pretending to be in front of a camera.
What I Do Differently
Traditional portrait photography puts families in position and waits for them to hold still. That works fine for formal settings. It doesn’t work for kids. Especially from 2 to 10 year olds.
My sessions are built around movement. I give families something to do — walk, play, tickle fight, interact — and photograph what happens when it happens. The real moments come from that. The squeeze, the laugh, the look your kid (s) gives you when they think nobody’s watching. Those don’t happen on command.
Sessions run 60–90 minutes. All locations are outdoor — parks, waterfronts, area beaches, natural settings. No studios. No backdrops. No props.
You’ll receive 40–60 edited images through an online gallery.
Where I Work
I live in New Port Richey, but I do photograph families throughout Tampa Bay: New Port Richey, Clearwater and Palm Harbor, Tampa, Odessa, Trinity, Wesley Chapel, Land O’ Lakes and beyond.
After you book, I’ll recommend a specific location based on the look you want and the ages and energy levels in your group.
Pricing
Collections start at $350. Most families invest $595–$995
Common Questions
What’s the difference between a portrait session and a lifestyle session?
Portrait sessions are posed — structured, deliberate and sometimes feel a little forced. Lifestyle sessions follow the family and catch what happens naturally. I do both, but the best images almost always come from the latter.
My kids won’t cooperate.
Expected and wanted. I’ve been photographing families for long enough now to know (and have five grandkids of my own) that kids don’t perform on cue. Sessions are built around that reality, not against it.
We don’t know how to pose.
You don’t need to. I give quiet, gentile direction walk here, pick her up, tickle him, and photograph what unfolds. You’re not expected to perform. (My secret weapon is a bubble gun machine).
What should we wear?
Simple, comfortable, coordinated but not matching. I send a prep guide after booking with specifics.
What time of day is best?
Usually the last 60–90 minutes before sunset. Early morning works too, especially in summer.
What if it rains?
We reschedule. A weather plan is in place for every booking.
Do you shoot multi-generational sessions — grandparents, extended family?
Yes. Larger group and generations sessions are available.
